Ingredients to make no tomato guacamole

Avocado, cilantro, parsley, garlic, jalapeno, lime juice, salt, red chili flakes, and red onions are the ingredients to make the recipe.

How to pick the right avocado? Ripe avocados are dark in color, soft but firm enough. If you find avocados are hard and in light color then just wrap them in brown paper. It helps them to ripen faster. It is always great if you can buy a variety of avocados in terms of ripeness. So that you can use them accordingly for different recipes. Check this article on how to pick the perfect avocado.

Variations

What type of onions to use for guacamole? Mostly all the onions work in guacamole. Sweet white onions are great to add for crunch and mild flavor. But you can use any that you have at the time of making. I added red onion and it works perfectly fine for the crunchy and overall flavor profile. If you find harsh after taste or strong flavors from onion, just soak them in cold water for 5 minutes before using them.

Tomatoes or without tomatoes? Adding tomatoes is completely personal. You can add any variety of tomatoes, make sure they are firm enough. If they are juicier then remove the seeds and then chop them before adding in avocados. I found adding tomato with all seeds makes the runny guacamole. This guacamole recipe is without tomatoes.

How to make guacamole taste better? Lime, cilantro, onion, and jalapenos are added to make crunchy and spicy guacamole. You can add jalapenos, serranos, or basically any chilies as per the taste. In my recipe, I use jalapenos and red chili flakes to make it a bit spicier. Check this post what all food groups pair well with avocado.

How to make it without lime? Fresh lime juice adds flavor and freshness. It also prevents guacamole from turning brown. Lemon juice and apple cider vinegar also work well if you want to make guacamole without lime. You can also add store-bought lime/lemon juice as well.

Cilantro or without cilantro? Cilantro is a herb with a love and hate relationship due to genes that detects the soapy smell that comes from detergents. Due to this many people do not like to add them in salsa. Check these cilantro substitutes in guacamole or you can simply eliminate them from the recipe.
